    Does band=5ghz-be restrict the radio to that standard or not? The question is open and the answer decides what the tool should emit for Wi-Fi 7.

    For twenty of the 136 models the interface names were never confirmed on real hardware. The script warns about it. Owning one helps more than code here.

  • SwOS next to RouterOS: VLAN settings translated

    For CRS switches that can run both SwOS and RouterOS: the VLAN settings as SwOS shows them on screen, next to the RouterOS commands that do the same. Where a SwOS setting has no exact RouterOS equivalent, the table says so. First as a view next to the script, later as a clickable practice page.

    Topology for multi-device sites

    A site now has Cabling: which port of which device goes to which other device. Those ports become the trunks carrying every VLAN, get a comment naming the far end on both sides, and the checks refuse a cable on the WAN port or a port used twice. A button fills in a starting point, and the handover sheet shows the cabling.

    Traffic matrix between VLANs

    Under Firewall, Traffic between VLANs now offers the matrix: tick per VLAN which other networks it may reach. Everything else is blocked, for IPv4 and IPv6. Switching it on starts from what is open today, and the handover sheet shows the matrix.

    Choose which RouterOS version you generate for

    Under System you now pick the RouterOS version on the device, and an import takes it from the export. The script follows what the manual states per version: the wifi menu before 7.13, adlist from 7.15, device-mode before 7.17 and the default firewall from 7.21. The target is written at the top of the script.

    Save a configuration or site as a file and open it again later

    A site with multiple devices can now be saved as a file, just like a single device, and Open a saved file loads either back in, in another browser too. The file holds the passwords, so keep it with the customer records.

    Printable handover sheet

    Next to the script there is now Handover sheet: ports, VLANs, addresses, internet, Wi-Fi, VPN and port forwards on paper or as a PDF, with space for the serial number and a signature. For a site, a cover page plus a page per device. Passwords only if you tick the box.

    Provider presets (KPN, Ziggo, Odido, Telekom, Swisscom, Free)

    At the top of WAN you now pick your provider: VLAN, DHCP or PPPoE and the IPv6 prefix are set straight away, with a note on what the preset does not cover, such as TV and telephony. Fixed along the way: a DHCP or static uplink on a VLAN put the wrong interface in the WAN list, so NAT did not work.

    Diff against a running device export

    Below the script there is now Compare with the device: paste the router export and get only the lines that change. An object that is already there is never removed and created again, only the values that differ are set; firewall tables where order matters are replaced as a whole, and the output says so. After an import the export is already filled in.

    Add CHR, x86 and CCR

    The CHR and the CCR models, including the older CCR1xxx series, are in the catalogue, and RouterOS on your own PC or server (x86) has been added. For CHR and x86 you give the number of network cards yourself, and no RouterBOOT setting is written.

    The configurator can now be used in German, French and Spanish too: wizard, fields, help texts, warnings and handover sheet. The MikroTik manual stays Dutch and English for now; from those languages you land on the English version.

    Library of shared recipes

    The wizard now has Or start from a recipe: a guest network, two internet connections with failover, smart home devices kept apart, an office with CAPsMAN, WireGuard for phone and laptop, and a café hotspot. We built and checked these recipes ourselves; you suggest your own through the form, so it is checked before anyone else gets it.

    Combine options in the wizard

    A role that routes now starts the wizard with Combine: tick VLANs, VPN, CAPsMAN, bandwidth or IPv6 and the wizard adds that block's questions. Unticking keeps what you already filled in.

    Rollback script alongside the configuration

    Next to Download there is now Rollback script: a second script that removes every object the configuration adds, found again by its own name or comment so it never touches anything else. Addresses and the bridge go last. Settings that are only changed are listed as not undone, without their values, and the exact way back is still the backup from step 1.

    Support SwOS devices

    For a SwOS switch the tool now gives a setup sheet: tab by tab what to fill in, in the field names from the SwOS manual. Next to it a push script (BETA), a feature of eXtreme Hosting used at your own risk: it makes a backup first, stops on an unknown SwOS version and leaves the management address and your own port alone.

    Offbridge port for emergency access

    Under Bridge & ports, Emergency access: a port kept out of the bridge with its own address and optional DHCP. It is in the LAN list, stays reachable with Management VLAN only switched on, and is refused when its subnet overlaps another.

    Switch IPv6 off, properly

    Under IPv6 you can now pick IPv6 switched off completely: the stack goes off, the drop rules stay in place for when an update turns it back on, and the bridge and the switch chip stop passing IPv6, using rextended's rules for both kinds of chip.

    IPv6 subnet planner

    At /configurator/ipv6-subnet-planner/: split the prefix your provider delegates into something you can actually configure, a block per site and a /64 per VLAN, aligned, with the leftover reported. It will not offer anything longer than a /64 for a LAN, because SLAAC needs a /64. With an RFC 4193 ULA generator, EUI-64, an explanation per address range, and the RouterOS lines for /ipv6 address, /ipv6 nd, /ipv6 pool and prefix delegation, checked against MikroTik's manual.

    CIDR calculator

    At /configurator/cidr-calculator/: paste what you have and it works out what you meant. A single prefix gives the full description, including the /31 and /32 cases most calculators get wrong. A range like 10.0.0.5-10.0.3.200 becomes the shortest list of aligned blocks, thirteen of them. A list of prefixes is aggregated into the shortest equivalent set and checked for overlaps, which is the thing to know before bringing up a VPN between two sites that both use 192.168.1.0/24. Output as an /ip firewall address-list.

    PoE calculator

    At /configurator/poe-calculator/: does it fit on the switch? With the real budgets from MikroTik's own PoE-out table, fourteen models, including the per-port current limit and the loss in the cable, which is paid by the switch and not by the camera. It warns when the budget is exceeded, when there are more devices than ports, when a port is over its own milliamp limit, and about passive 24 V on a long run.

    MTU calculator

    At /configurator/mtu-calculator/: stack the layers you actually run, from the outside in, and see the interface MTU, the TCP MSS, where every byte went and the RouterOS lines. WireGuard, IPsec in AES-CBC and AES-GCM, GRE, IPIP, EoIP, VXLAN, PPPoE, L2TP, SSTP, OpenVPN and PPTP, over IPv4 or IPv6. The numbers are checked against MikroTik's own manual: EoIP comes out at 1458, exactly the actual-mtu a router reports for itself.

    Subnet calculator

    A page of its own at /configurator/calculator/: say how many devices are on the network and what kind of network it is, and you get a subnet, the mask, the router address, the usable range, the DHCP pool and the RouterOS lines. 10.0.0.0/8 by default, 192.168.0.0/16 for a home network that fits in one subnet and 172.16.0.0/12 on request; you can pick it yourself. Several networks at once as well: a row per VLAN or site with its own profile, laid out one after another inside the chosen space and aligned on their own size, so they cannot overlap. The whole calculation runs in your browser.

    Fixed addresses (static leases) per VLAN

    A table in the VLAN section with MAC, address and the VLAN the lease belongs to. Every VLAN has its own DHCP server, so the lease is attached to the right one. The tool warns when the address sits outside that VLAN's range, or when the VLAN has no DHCP at all.

    Repeat mDNS between VLANs

    AirPlay, Chromecast, AirPrint and Sonos only find each other inside their own network. RouterOS can repeat mDNS between the interfaces you list (7.16 and newer); the tool sets that up and adds the firewall rule for UDP 5353 when the strict management mode would otherwise drop it.

    The emergency port could be disabled at the same time

    You could pick a port as emergency access and switch that same port off. The script then did both and told you to plug a laptop into a dead port. The port can no longer be ticked under disabled ports, and a configuration that still holds both after an import raises an error instead of producing useless emergency access.

    Fasttrack rule failed on routers

    The fasttrack rule always carried hw-offload=yes. That parameter only exists on switches with a Marvell Prestera chip, so on nearly every router RouterOS refused the line. Pasting hid it because the rest carried on; an /import stopped. The tool now writes it only where the chip supports it.

    A script without users or passwords

    A tick box that leaves every user line out of the script. The router keeps its current login when you reset with keep-users=yes, and the instructions in the script say so. No password in a file you pass around.

    Next to the deploy link there is now the offline route: download the script, drag it into WinBox under flash, and the router applies it while it resets with run-after-reset. Nothing leaves your browser.

    DoH with a custom server was missing its bootstrap entries

    With a preset upstream you got static DNS entries for the DoH hostname, with your own server you did not. That is exactly where they are needed: without them the router has to resolve the DoH server through DNS that does not work yet. The entries now come from the DNS servers you filled in, and if those are hostnames rather than addresses, the tool says so.
